I was looking at the calendar/diary today and realised that the summer holidays are only six weeks away.

Lots to do before then:

• Micra-T and Sigma-T standarised tests to be done with all classes from 1st onwards.
• A variety of in-house tests to be done.
• Book lists to be sorted for next year.
• Next year’s school calendar to be finalised.
• End of year reports to be made out.
• School tour to be taken.
• A number of visitors to the school to be sorted.
• The school nurse to call to talk to the senior classes about the ‘sensitive’ areas of R.S.E. (Relationships & Sexuality Education).
• School Plan to be worked on.
• I must make out a flyer to advertise the school.

etc.

I saw Michelle Smith (de Bruin) on television tonight.

Smith received a four year ban for tampering with a urine sample.

It was contaminated with alcohol.

Think of it …. a thousand million! or 10⁹ (ten to the power of nine) for you mathematically inclined people out there!

• A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
• A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
• A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
• A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
• A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate the U.S. government is spending it!

How many faces can you see?

Up to my ears here with school work …. of my own making …. trying to see if I can get WordPress to work as a ‘plain’ looking site so I can get the pupils as masters of their own work and get them to post to the net.

Any ideas? All suggestions welcome …. I’m trying to push the boat out …. not sink it!

Been a long night …. a long tiring day ….. a burst appendix (not mine) meant I had to be elsewhere on supervision duty!

All ok now (hopefully) ….. if we could get rid of the HSE and start afresh with the ‘good’ people we’d have a great Health Service.

The people on the ground are the ones that are trying to keep the seams from falling apart.

Fungi the Dingle dolphin is ignoring the tourists at the moment.

I see that a land owner in Limerick has applied for planning permission to build the country’s first underground shooting range.

The muder capital of Europe and an underground shooting range ….. now that’s more than a little ironic!

I have written about School Development Planning Support (Primary) previously.

In their wisdom S.D.P.S. have decided to put a copy of their website on CD …. issue a copy of the CD to all the Primary School teachers in the country and to provide each member of the Board of Management with their own copies as well.
