Paul Newman, the actor, died on Friday at the age of 83. He had been suffering from cancer.

Newman was a legend in his own time. A cool, suave and sophisticated man he was nominated for the Academy Awards 10 times.

He won an Oscar in 19878 for ‘The Colour of Money’. He also won two honourary Oscars.

Newman founded a food company ‘Newman’s Own’ from which he donated all his profits and royalties (well in excess of US$220 million) to charity.

What an amazing man.

A young swan was horrifically injured last Monday night at the Stardust Memorial Park in Coolock, Dublin when it ate a piece of bread with fireworks hidden inside it.

The fireworks blew off the swan’s beak and its tongue was shredded.

A vet had to humanely put the swan down.

As thought up by a woman!

Boyd Coddington the icon of the hotrod industry died on the 27^th of February 2008 at the age of 63. Boyd created custom hotrods and classic one off vehicles. Though I may have not agreed with the fast deadline approach to his car building I have to admire what he achieved in his life. He created with his hands and he entertained with his ‘American Hotrod’ shows.

Rest in Peace Boyd …. your legacy is indeed one that will stand the test of time.

There’s a vicious rumour going round that the some of the Kilkenny Cats are on performance enhancing drugs!
